Hi all,

I spent months trying to get an analog SAA7130-based card working but gave up and bought a Hauppauge 1700-HVR DVB-T and analog with hardware MPEG2 encoder instead. It worked almost immediately, but the picture quality for the analog channels is extremely poor compared to what I get on my Panasonics television connected to the same source.

I figure this is a software issue, but I need help with the configuration. I'm not so familiar with codecs and various settings for ffdshow for example.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

- Mikael

    Hi.
Did you try altering the analoge quality settings in TV-server config? Can make a big difference.
    ScanAnalog

Try 100 % var. bit. average (for everything).

Regarding codecs, I tried FFDShow from SAF installation (recommended by hoborg, SAF author), and I think PQ was good. I normally use MS Win7 (also used CyberLink), which also produce good PQ.

Hi and thank you. That actually improved the picture quality a bit!

However, what made the big difference was the removal of an antenna amplifier that was connected. I needed it for the old card that I threw away but I guess my new Hauppauge board didn't like it really. Now picture quality is even a bit better in MP than direct to the antenna input on the TV from the same source.

    Thanks again.:D
