While I'm becoming more a more a fan of Media Portal everyday, and preparing to build a pretty large NAS box for storage soon (BlueRay takes up a lot of space :D ), I do find having to have MP installed on the separate PC's and laptops in the home a little frustrating. Particularly when adding various plugins, and having to update all the installations.

Is they are way or any plans perhaps to be able run/install Media Portal from a USB stick?

I have family coming to visit soon, and I'm sure they'll be bringing their laptop(s) with them. It would be a great feature if I could simple pass them a USB / flash drive with MP on it that they could copy/run from their machines and then be able to access all the media on the network.

Thanks for the link. I had actually read that once in the past, but I don't consider that the same as making a Media Portal a portable app.

As portable app, one should be already have their machine turned on, be able to attache any old pen drive, and be able to run the MP directly off the pen drive, or copy the folder/file to the the local machine and launch it there.

Having to install an entire OS onto a pen drive isn't quite the same thing as a portable app.
