1.) The following combination of settings in MP Configuration/General brings a black screen for fullscreen video and fullscreen TV:

- Start MediaPortal in fullscreen mode is checked
- Use Exclusive DirectX mode - avoids tearing is checked

2.) The following combination of settings in MP Configuration/General is working perfect for fullscreen video and fullscreen TV:

- Start MediaPortal in fullscreen mode is _not_ checked
- Use Exclusive DirectX mode - avoids tearing is checked
- After MediaPortal is manually started select "Fullscreen" on menu bar.

I can reproduce this at will.

Could be related?

I have had black screen issues as well over the past months -- not sure if its related.

I too always start MP in fullscreen mode.

When I choose to play a DVD, the trailers, etc.. play nice.
Once the option to play the movie is on the screen and I choose play the following happens:

I can hear the movie playing, but the screen is black.

This happens constantly and has happened a few time for TV.

My quick solution is to start the movie, press stop then start the movie again.
When MP asks if I want to continue from where I left off -- I choose YES.
The movie ALWAYS starts back up with sound and picture...no problem until the next movie.

Hope this information helps to lead to a solution.

Junoman: I have the same problem. It happens the first time or first couple of times for any videos that go fullscreen. It's been happening with the last two SVN's I've used. Currently using MediaPortal-svn--03-30-2007--01-04-Rev13699.

The funny thing is that there seems to be a difference between the fullscreen setting in the configuration and the fullscreen menu entry when starting MP in windowed mode.

I would think that both "do" the same ...
