Power Scheduler Does Not Wake PC To Record (1 Viewer)

Having finally got to a point where Power Scheduler seemed to be working during short tests (i.e. hibernating the system after 2 min and waking for recordings a couple of minutes later), I decided to test it in a real-life environment (i.e. hibernating the system after 15 min and waking for circa 5 short recordings spaced out over 8 hours).

The system was left ON last night at midnight to automatically hibernate by Power Scheduler. This morning the system was ON and not a single of the 5 videos had recorded!

Any help very much appreciated! All logs attached (tv.log attached separately for ease of reference).

Hi Tom (at least i think so looking from computer name :)),

From the tv.log i can see that tv service stoped or crashed at 2010-08-11 00:59:16.884056. I don't have access to my pc at the moment so i can't be sure if it is normal procedure to stop service when hibernating.
Tv service started only at 2010-08-11 11:40:20.108408 and i assume it was you who did it, did you have to start service manually?

Looking at the windows logs i can see that windows woke up at 1:38 and there is an error where it states that tv service failed to start (11/08/2010 01:39:06;"Service Control Manager";"(0)";"Error";"The TVService service failed to start due to the following error: %%1053";"3221232472").
I think it could be just a windows hibernate thing as as you said it worked before just fine and this time it failed to start service after hibernate
Personally i use standby rather than hibernate due to faster wakeup time. Try standby for one night and see if it behaves the same way.

I have a batch file that disables the TV Service prior to hibernation (Girder automates this process). The TV Service then restart at resume from hibernation via another batch file (again, automated by Girder). Otherwise my TV card does not get loaded properly on resume. This configuration works in the same manner as MPStandbyHandler.

Looking at the windows logs i can see that windows woke up at 1:38 and there is an error where it states that tv service failed to start (11/08/2010 01:39:06;"Service Control Manager";"(0)";"Error";"The TVService service failed to start due to the following error: %%1053";"3221232472").

Having restarted the system, I scheduled the exact same test yesterday day time and then again night time (obviously recording different programs) and it worked flawlessly. So will keep an eye on it. Maybe my Girder/Batch file process is too streamlined and may not always work (time will tell). In which case I may go to using MPSH.

Thanks for taking time to look through those logs vecnar :).

You are welcome. But as SiLenTYL stated your best option would be to install mp 1.1.0 final which has some bug fixes as well.

I already have 1.1.0 final installed on a clean system... When you click on 'My System', is it showing you that I am still using an old version?

No, i didn't check which version you are using so i just assumed that you used older version.
Regarding restart of tv service. Have you tried power scheduler plugin to reinitialize tv service on wakeup in advanced tab of powerscheduler plugin config window? You could also use powerscheduler plugin for starting batch script which would accept parameter standby or wakeup and based on that you could pass different commands. See my post with batch script and modify to your needs. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/kill-process-when-going-stanby-then-81206/
