Hi all,

Ok, so I'm new to MP (built my first HTPC on the weekend) and I'm already loving it. One question though... I set up the Power Scheduler plugin & it seems to hibernate with no activity & then start back up to record perfectly, but it seems to only do this (booting back up to record) if it has shut itself down & not if you hibernate the machine by hand. Just wondering if this is by design or if I'm doing something wrong. If its by design I guess I'll just have to get used to the idea that to turn the machine off I exit back out to the home screen and leave it rather than actually turning it off. :)

Thanks.

You could try the "Topbar" plugin and use its poweroff menu (contains hibernate)

Do you have the stable patch for 0.2 installed?

Mine turns back on if you power it down, but only if the PC is hibernating or asleep. Ie, set Windows to hibernate when you press the power button and MP will pick this up and work with it.

If you shut down the PC then MP will close before the shut down and won't be able to wake up again.

Hmmm.. thanks for the responses guys. I'm running 0.2 with the stable patch & I've got WinXP set up to hibernate when hitting the power button (which definately works & I assume is the equivalent of using the topbar plugin, but I'll try that too).... maybe it was a freak occurance. I'll try it again when I get home.

theres also an option in the powerscheduler plugin to use extensive logging. Set that and then check the mediaportal.log file to makesure it is setting the wake up time correctly. Don't forget to turn the extra logging off when you are finished.

Also, in the mediaportal.log file it should be listed when windows sends a pm event and media portal should respond to it in the log.

These are probably the best two things to check if you PC continues to snooze rather than waking up.
