    Hi all,

    just a little question:

I just upgraded to PowerDVD 9.

Since then I cannot choose the H.264 codec from PowerDVD in Mediaportal anymore.

Is this a relatet problem from Mediaportal or from PowerDVD 9?

Do you need to make some code change that I can choose the codec in Mediaportal or is this more an installation error from PoverDVD 9?

    thanx in advance

    Regards

Looks like the h.264 codec is no longer available to outside software, so its exclusive to Cyberlink software only, kmplayer has found the same thing, so its not just down to MP.

I installed the trial (didn't like the forced registration) on a clean PC and it works nicely - although no difference to PDVD7.3 codecs (using DXVA).
Maybe you should contact Cyberlink and report your issue.

I haven't tried it (don't want to try it actually), but read other reports: Erste Testversion von PowerDVD 9 - DVBViewer community forum (in german: it says sd and hd decoder work fine in dvbviewer)

Got the following answer from Cyberlink ( bad news ):

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.

We understand your concern related with PowerDVD 9.0.

Please note that PowerDVD 9.0 does not support sharing of codecs with any other software or utility.

    We regret for the inconvinience.

as I have read a little bit on the Internet, this is only relatet to the full Version, not the Trial Version.
Strange kind of salespolitic they have

thought this is of interrest for the developers.

    Installed PowerDVD 8 again.
For me this ist the best solution at the moment, because CoreAVC eats to much CPU Power and when used with NVIDIA CUDA feature the image from the TV is way to big and does not fit in the screen and with the DivX Codec it does not work on my system, shows a stil image from the previous channel.

    Vista x64

    Thanx for your help.

    Just a update on this.

Use the trial copy of PDVD9, you can access the h.264 codec with MediaPortal fine.

If like me and you have the paid for version ie Ultra, you cannot access the h.264 codec any more  stupid logic from cyberlink, really encourages you to purchase.
