The cause of your trouble is the HDMI audio device that takes some seconds to become the default audio device again after return from away mode (maybe also after return from sleep mode). In the moment of the return from away mode the other device (stereo) is the default audio device and this gets unmuted. But shortly after the default device changes and the (still muted) HDMI audio device becomes default device again...One workaround would be not to unmute the default device but to remember the last default device and to unmute it directly (if it is the deafult device or not). The other approach would be to wait some seconds until the audio device is unmuted. I will think about it... Michael</blockquote>
