There is a PowerScheduler plugin in the MP client, there is PowerScheduler (is it called that?) plugin in the TV server and then there is MPStandbyHandler. I'm confused.

I'm running 1.0.0.0 RC3 on XP pro, with MP and the TV server on the same machine. All I want is that the machine goes to standby after 10 minutes if left on the home screen and wakes up 5 min before a recording is supposed to start. That used to be easy, but what do I do now? This should be rather standard?

MPStandbyHandler is only needed if your TVCard drivers does not like standby, if everything works fine, then just not necessary.

Hopefully that may clear things up, most posts regarding this are driver\hardware related.

If standby does not work then you need to find the reason why, mine is the tuners get shut down and restarted on resume by Vista, so i know i need to compensate for that with TVServer settings.

    Regards

Thanks. That solves part of the confusion. I have two BlackGold DVB-T cards that don't seem to have a problem with standby.

But do I need to use both the MPclient and TVserver PowerSchedulers? How do they co-ordinate (go to sleep when both allow, wake-up/stay awake if one wishes)? The wording in the configuration is confusing.

I have also noticed an issue. I use IRserver to blast to my amplifier. On a standby and on a wake-up it should blast an on/off command. When the PowerScheduler initiates a standby it doesn' blast. At wake-up it does.

Yes, you need to configure both plugins.
Basically there are two plugins because in a multiseat environment
you could have the MediaPortal client installed on a different maschine than the Tv-Server.
This makes it possible to handle standby requests/needs independently for each maschine.

In a singleseat setup (client and server on the same maschine)
both plugins should be configured the same way ( shutdown time, type, ...).
