Hi All,

Since installing V 1.1.0 Final, Powerscheduler does not seem to put the machine into S3 sleep mode.

I have enabled the client and set the machine to sleep after 5 minutes after no activity, which is replicated under the TV Server setup.

No "Processes" have been setup apart from the default.

Anyone else having this issue?

Regards

Graham

    Logs, please,
from the case where it should enter into sleep.

Ie. Leave Mp into Home menu and wait for the time(5 minutes), when it should sleep. Dont touch anything
    while waiting.

    After that post logs.

    Br,

Yes, here the same problem with hibernate. Machine wants to shut down (screen blanks out) and comes back immediately. Attached the tvserver log. Let me know if you need more info. Sorry for the funny icons in the list, the log contains the characters and this is converted to the pictures automatically.

    Hi TE3HPURP,

Looks like since I raised this post the machine eventually went into sleep mode - my wife arrived home prior to me last night and mentioned it was in sleep mode, however there was a "disconnection from TV" issue when she fired up the machine - I think this might have been caused by a delay in the TV Tuner statrtup (that I set to 20 seconds) and no delay in starting up TV Service i.e. the card was not activated before Media Portal was started up - I simply set 20 seconds on that as well to give the machine enough time to startup properly. I also noticed the EPG had not updated properly for some reason??

Anyhow, I activated the "extensive log" files and set the client and TV Service Powerscheduler settings to 5 minutes as you suggested. I also set the EPG upday for 06:30 - the machine went to sleep OK and the EPG updated as normal this morning, so hopefully (fingers crossed) everything is OK.

One question, if I want the machine NOT to go into sleep mode between 5:00pm and 11:00pm, how do I set the "Allow The Machine To Go Into Sleep Mode Between" options? The obvious is 23 to 17, but in prior versions anyway this didn't work - does this work in version 1.1.0?? The reason I ask is that possibly my machine did not sleep previously because I set it to the options above (I cannot remember when I changed it back to the default of 0 to 24 i.e. do not stop the machine going into standby)

Luukske, I notice above that you are putting your machine into Hibernate. From memory I used to have issues with this - why don't you try Suspend - this works well for me and means that the USB slots are active (there is a small trickle of power going to them) during sleep so things like a remote control can wake the machine from sleep (see MPTray). I'm unsure of your operating system, but I also had a lot of sleep issues until I updated to SP2 in Vista.

Anyhow, if I have any further issues, I will post some logs.

Keen to hear any thoughts on the "Allow The Machine To Go Into Sleep Mode Between" options!!

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

I will try suspend iso. hibernate, but up to now (I am using mediaportal from version 1.0.2 and tried also all the 5 out of 6 release candidates for version 1.1.0) hibernate worked well for me.
I suspect something is wrong with "XmlTvImportWakeupHandler time", since this points to the year 1999, or maybe that is normal?
I wanted to revert back to RC6 to check the logs there, but unfortunately I could not download that anymore through the link on the website (file is gone).

    Hi Luukske,

My first comment would be that the year you refer to above is actually 9999, so in another words, infinity.

From what you describe, it sounds like the machine starts goings into sleep, but is told to wake up again - are your Advanced Powerscheduler settings set to the default i.e. Pre Wakeup Time 60 seconds, Pre-no shutdown time 120 seconds and check interval 60 seconds? If not, I'm wondering if there is a clash??

    Cheers

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

I tried suspend, but this does not work either.
The powerscheduler settings are standard 60-300-60, only I selected now "forced shutdown" (but does not work also).
I am going to search for a RC6 version to check if it is really a mediaportal issue, or that maybe windows has a new "feature" (there were some updates recently).

Thanks for you support so far!:D

Grmbl, I found a RC6b version, did a fresh install, but this problem stays. Killed many processes, uninstalled applications, and still no success.
I am affraid a re-install is the only solution...But not before I install mythtv so that I at least have a backup system. Will come back to this issue after the re-install....

    Hi Luukske,

What operating system are you running?? I'm on Vista Home Premium and had heaps of issues with Powerscheduler until I upgraded to SP2.

Also, do you have the "Network Monitor" Prevent standby tickbox set?? Another thought, have you turned off all the windows power management sleep options so Powerscheduler effectively takes over control of sleeping??

To everybody, is there a way of only stopping the machine to go into standby between 5:00pm and 11:00pm through the "prevent standby options"??

Same here, Vista home premium. My DVD contains SP1, I made a fresh install still yesterday evening. The SP2 has not yet been applied yet, neither did I enable the keyboardplugin, but so far the system goes into hybernate without a problem. THis evening I am going to apply all windows updates again, see if it works and then start enabling the plugins. I will keep you updated here, since if I can help another person not having to spend some evenings behind the PC while the wife and kids are getting bored because there is no TV, it is worthwhile!
I did not change anything in the powersettings, only an update from RC6 to final and another version of keyboard plugin (oh no, hope it is not the plugin, since this was basically the only thing I did not uninstall in trying to find the cause...)

just a quick note..u need to reboot before powerscheduler plug in works for the tv server and client

just make sure u do an actual REBOOT each time u change the settings or else no changes take effect
