Every now and again when I change channels the video signal gets messed up and i have to restart media portal. The tv video will srink down to what looks like 'original' aspect ratio in size, it will be in the lower right hand side of the screen and it will blink green. I can still see the video but it all distorted and blinking. When I go back to the home screen the video stays where it is and blinks on top of the home screen. It does not scale down in size and move to the preview window like it should. Changing the chanel doesn't fix it. Only restarting MP.

Here is the log starting from the channel change that started it.

If I was you I would try a different codec, you have a nvidia 6800 which I believe supports the Nvidia purevideo codec. try it, by all accounts its very good

Sorry, I thought I had that in the info above.

I DO use the nVidia Decoder.

This happens no matter which decoder i use though.

I've tried several.

    Hi,

    it seems as if VMR9 is lost from time to time and MP drops back to Overlay (which is not supported any more):

    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM 1 vmr9: pin:0 not connected:80040209
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM 1 vmr9: no input pin 1 found
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM 1 vmr9: no input pin 2 found
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreamBufferPlayer9: switch to overlay
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreamBufferPlayer9:cleanup DShow graph False
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreamBufferPlayer9: vmr9 disable
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreamBufferPlayer9: vmr9 dispose
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM 1 vmr9:Dispose
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM VMR9: not active
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM planescene: PresentImage()
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreamBufferPlayer9:cleanup done
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM StreambufferPlayer:GetInterfaces()
    5/5/2006 6:06:16 PM VMR7Helper:AddVMR7

    This may be caused by driver, codec or directx....sorry to open such a big field. :)

    Does this also happen with TimeShift (TS) off?

    For the drivers:
    Try the latest from shspvr. Use the Primary Tool from Hauppauge (Start->Programs->Hauppauge WinTV->Primary) to set VMR9.

    For the codecs:
    Did you ever install codec packs or video editing software?
    There may be an old codec screwing up your system. This hopefully can be checked with GEdit.
    Set MPEG2Dec and MPEG/DTS/AC3 for testing.
    - start GEdit
    - start MP
    - start TV
    - in GEdit: File->Connect To Remote Graph
    - there will be two, one for TS and one for Capture
    - connect to both, you can save the graph to look deeper into it later.
    - GEdit: File->Disconnect from Graph
    - close MP
    - GEdit: open the saved graphes, search for any suspicious (MPEG) filters
    - try making a screenshot and post them on a webspace (hopefully you have one)

    Flip.
