LinuxMCE  seems promising. The core (server) runs on Kubuntu and it is possible to access it with a Windows PC or even even a PC with no OS installed. I haven't had the time to explore it but it looks good.

MediaPortal is very nice with loads of features and I use it daily. But it's a shame you need MS Windows for it.
