I had the exact same problem 2 days ago. I had no TV or TV preview working, I kept getting "Unknown Error"

It turned out that my MySQL database had got corrupted. I "dropped the schema" and it was recreated and i was back in business. I lost all scheduled recordings and TV channel information though so it was major pain in the butt.

I have now exported my channels so if it happens again, I just re-import them.
