I get an error message everytime i try to run the setup for the first time. It comes directly when I get to the point when it shall search for channels.
I have a Hauppauge PVR-250 installed on a HP5365. OS is Windows XP Home.
I think that is a "known issue" - I have read of quite a few users hitting the same issue.
Workaround is to skip that step, finish running the setup wizard, and then launch MediaPortal Setup and run the "autotune" from there (in Television, Capture card, Edit) - it should then work without error ....
FYI, there are multiple clients for Windows, like "yauiclient", that can do remote clients. They give you the exact same user interface as nextpvr.exe.

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC.
TV Server development looks dead so I'm afraid you're going to have to figure that out by yourself if it's even possible.
