Problem with fast forwarding (recorded shows)

When trying to fast forward my picture keeps changing between only two images of the recorded show for some (4-5) seconds, then this repeats itselft with two new images and so on... I'm not able to view exectly for how long I have forwarded except by on the timeline witch shows correctly...

Anyone who had this problem and/or knows a solution?

I have a similar problem. When fast forwarding movies, my picture doesnt really update too much, it jumps from scene to scene. The timer is not really smooth either, it skips numbers. I'm not sure if this is normal.

Mine play pretty smoothly, yes there is some jerkiness but you can clearly see where you are at any point in the recording, not much different from a freestanding DVD player.

This is heavily depending on codecs and I/O performance - e.g. a firewire or network drive wouldn't yield nice results

Fast forwarding other videos (DVD images, mpegs, etc.) is OK, this only happens when FF recorded shows, I'm using a internal Samsung Spinpoint 250GB harddisc via IDE, so I don't think it's the I/O performance, but is there a way for me to check this possibility? Will try other than the Nvidia codec later 2nite. Thanks for your reply!

    Still having this problem

Doesn't matter how fast I'm forwarding the pictures keep changing between only two pictures, after a while maby a third picture, but it's impossible to see how far I have forwarded. Tried different codecs and SVNs but didn't help.

    Any ideas?

Not really a solution, but is there any reason you are using fast forward/rewind? I find that I never use it because the left and right arrow skip functionality is so much more useful.

Hope you sort your issue out.

wow, fast reply :) Uses FF to get pass start of recordings and commercials, have tried left and right arrow but nothing happens (you mean the >| |< arrows right?) Will test again when home from work. (using Hauppauges MCE remote clone)

I mean the arrow keys on a keyboard/remote. The same ones you use to navigate around the other menus. Like the inverted T on your keyboard. You push it once and it will say "+15 sec", you can either leave it to skip 15 seconds, or push right again and it will say "+30 sec", then 1 minute, etc. I usually find 3 minutes around the right time to skip for commercials, maybe 3:30 (which I do as a 3 minute skip and then a 30 second skip). You can also use the "u" key on the keyboard to skip back 5 seconds or so quickly. I use a combination of these to skip ads, skip a little until I see the show has started, then hit u a few times to go back to the end of the ad break.

You can configure the times you can skip with the arrow keys in the configuration program as well.

    Hope that helps.
