i've got 2 different movies (with its corresponding .nfo file with a imdb link), they have the same name but one is the original and the other is a remake. i've even named it with the year as i always do but they're picking up the same background, i can change the small image but the background is still the same.

what site does MP get these background images from as i think i am able to manually set the background, not ideal but it might do as a workaround unless theres something else im missing?

    They come from here usually
TMDb — The open movie database

Go there and get the backdrop yourself and put them in the folder with the movies named "backdrop.jpg" and then under movingpictures config go to the import tab and make sure "Search Movie Folder For Backdrop" is checked.

hmm didnt seem to work quite well, the movies in question are the original and the remake of oceans 11, i have even called them different filenames: (both files are in different import paths)

    c:\oceans 11 (1960).mkv
    c:\oceans 11 (1960).nfo
    c:\oceans 11 (1960).jpg
    d:\oceans eleven (2001).mkv
    d:\oceans eleven (2001).nfo
    d:\oceans eleven (2001).jpg

This is a known issue and will eventually get fixed. A work around follows (sorry if the text is not exactly right I do not have a copy of Moving Pictures on this system so I am doing this from memory):

    1) Open the config and goto the Importer Settings tab.
    2) Click Manually Manage Data Sources.
    3) Click the button to manage Backdrop Data Sources.
    4) Disable the Local Provider.
    5) Goto the Movie Manager and select the first of the two movies.
    6) Scroll to the bottom of the list of fields, find the Backdrop Path field, and delete it so it is blank.
    7) Do steps 5-6 for the second movie.
    8) Restart the Moving Pictures Config and wait a minute or two.
    9) New backdrops should now be downloading, one for each movie.

This is a known limitation that we'll be working to improve. For now, the simple fix is to disable the Local Data provider for your backdrops.

Some technical details if you're interested: the Local Data provider checks the image cache for an image that matches the movie title, if it's there, it uses that. We'll be changing this image cache to include the year in the filename in the near future.

    Hope this helps.
