AVI files gives errormessage (Video codec xvid. Audio Codec MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2) and cannot play with RC1.

    Using SAF RC1

Didn't have this prob with 1.1 Beta and latest SVN. And the files play outside MP (Windows Mediaplayer)

    Any ideas?

This was a SAF problem. Hoborg have made a patch that fixes this in the SAF thread.

WebKnight - I found exactly the same issue with a totally fresh install of RC 1, I do not often use the SAF's but decided to give them a try. I tried the latest RC version of SAF's and then one of the older ones with the same result as you. The error log showed ..."VideoPlayer9: Failed to render file -> vmr9", although I use EVR.

I removed them and then installed...

Haali media splitter (1.9), ticking the AVI option.
The latest FFDShow "tryout" revision (build 3274)
The latest MPC filter (standalone filter package built 1680)... MPCVideoDec.ax (build 1680) <<<< This was needed for me for H264 decoding and has to be registered.

The FFDShow and Stand alone filters can be found here...

    http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/

Doing the above, and configuring FFDShow how I want it, and all is well now :)

I was not sure if the error was with MP or the SAF's but as I normally do not use them I just installed my own codecs that I needed anyway.

    I have the same issue.
If I select ffdshow or another codec then MP don't play my avi files.
When I tick to use "auto detection codec" then MP plays my files and use ffdshow.
