the problem i'm having is both the tuners work fine, i can record and watch 2 different channels at the same time but. i cant record say bbc2 and watch bbc1 at the same time. it does this with all the channels up to e4 but i can record any channel and watch any other channel above e4+1. i dont know if it might be the chipsets in the tuners , the medion has a phillips chipset and the nova-t has a connexant chipset. it's been driving me round the bend for 3 months. i've tried the dvb fix, a full reinstall , changing the priorities. one thing i did notice is that when scanning for channels each tuner picks up the same channels but on different frequencies, which i assume is because of the different chipsets.

any ideas on a possible sollution would be appreciated.

Delete all channels on both tuners.

Choose your best tuner and tune channels for just this tuner.

Now just assign the channels to the second tuner. DO NOT tune the channels for the second tuner.

This is because now matter how many times you tune channels you will probably not get the same tuning frequency, it will be out by a fator of +/- 1-2 and thn MP will see them as totaly differet channels which intern can cause some problems.

Sometimes I have seen the channel frequencies out by so much when a second tuner has its channels tuned that the channel doesn't exist in the ether.

I use four DBV-T tuners and then just assign the channels to the 2-4 tuners without any problems

Don't forget to assign the RADIO channels to the other tuners aswell.

still not been able to get it to work even with the new version of mediaportal. it does just the same i can watch any channel from bbc1 to more 4 and record any channel above more4 at the same time, but i cannot do the reverse or i cannot record channel 4 and channel 5 at the same time. i've searched though the forum but havent came up with possible reason or resolution.

Paranoid Delusion, i dont understand what you mean by combine the channels i'm not getting duplicate channel entries as i'm only scanning for channels using the medion card then asigning the channels to the other card. could you explain in detail what you suggeted.

sorry it took a while to post back but have been without the net for a while. thanks for you help so far.

I suggest that you check the frequencies that Mediaportal has recorded during the autoscan, against what those frequencies should actually be - my assumption is that the tuner you used to scan the channels has got some of the DVB-T frequencies wrong (this is a "known" MP bug) and your other tuner is not able to tune those incorrect frequencies?

Alternately, reproduce the problem again, attach the resulting Mediaportal.log file here and explain to us exactly what steps you did - the log file might give us a clue ...
