Today I downloaded MediaPortal 1.0.2.0 and followed all of the instructions for installing it using the two configuration utilities. Even though I've done this MediaPortal claims that I have no TV tuner card and the schedule that I need for the television program guide doesn't load (it's possible that the schedule never downloaded). I want to use MediaPortal for recording television programs for later viewing. Are you able to tell me what I need to do or check in order to get to this level. Thanks.

So you:
Installed MP 1.0.2 software (Single seat install)
Configured MP
Configured TV server
No TV tuner showing in TV Server.

Which tuner card do you have?

1.0.2. works fine for me.
The EPG requires a little work as here in the US it is very localized.
Can you give us some details of your config by going to "User CP" here on the forum and fill out your system setup details.

I have a Hauppauge HVR-1250 card which does both analogue and digital so I set it up s a hybrid card. I have now placed details in the "User CP".

I don't see your "My System" under your Country on the left of your posts.
Click the My System on my one to see what I mean.

Can you verify that you have the User CP System Setup info entered correctly.
(Click My System and you will see my set up).

When you look in TV server configuration do you see any cards listed?

My Haupig (sic) 1600 card has both tuners.
I didn't set it up as hybrid just leave it as defaults.
My EPG is fully functioning now which makes it into a super Tivo like box.

Quickest is to do a MP uninstall.
Reboot.
Then clean re-install.
Don't configure anything.
Leave it for 15 mins.
Reboot.
Leave it for 15 mins.
Then go into MP TV server config.
Click TV Servers, click (Your Computers Name).
Do you should see 2 entries?
One for the Analogue tuner and one for the Digital Tuner (ATSC/QAM) in your card.

Side note: the NVIDIA 6150 video card is an 'economy' card. I would be surprised if it supports HD.

I'll uninstall and reinstall when I have more time. Can't do it right now. I don't know whether the NVIDIA card supports HD as I record programs on this computer for later viewing on a Vista based computer that is connected the an HDTV monitor. To that end, since I don't need MediaPortal to run full screen on the XP computer because I'm not actually viewing programs as it records - Is there a way to minimize it so that other apps and activities can be conducted on this computer while recording is taking place?

The TV server runs as a service so you don't need to be logged in or have MP client running.
Recording occurs as a TV server process so you don't need the MP client app running to do a record.
