Just upgraded from the last stable SVN before 1.0.1 to 1.0.2

I've noticed that whenever I switch off my TV it causes MediaPortal to have a bit of a panic. If music is playing it stops. When I switch the TV back on again. It reverts to the home screen as if the program had just started. I had a quick look at the log files and it seems to be triggered by something called "OnDeviceLost". There are a few mentions of this in the bugtracker but the old problems seem to have been fixed. I know on my previous installation. If I switched the TV off and then back on again, the program would have been on the same screen as when I'd switched it off.

I believe it is the same issue as being discussed here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...c-playback-stops-if-tv-hdmi-switch-off-59582/

In you case "OnDeviceLost" means that DirectX device got reseted because the video card did lose connectivity to HDMI device. Unfotunately nothing can be fixed in MediaPortal (when running on Windows XP) as it would require huge rewriting of skinning engine. So, your sollution is either:

    1) Upgrade to Vista (it provides DirectX9 Ex that doesn't cause OnDeviceLost on such cases)
    2) Fix HDMI on driver / HW level so that it is not turning off the connection between TV and video card gets broken

Not a bug on MP side (something that cannot be fixed with current architecture & XP combination). Moving under support sub forum.

Okay, thanks. I guess something must have changed between my previous version and 1.0.2 as it used to be the case that when switching the TV back on, I'd stay on the same screen rather than going back to the home screen. (I'm not sure if I ever tested playing music with the TV switched off).

I don't really want to do (1); does anyone have any ideas if (2) is feasible?

That should do the trick - also note that in the 185.xx drivers onwards nVidia made changes to DVI/HDMI detection (the release notes suggest it was to improve hot-plug display detection), so you may be better off staying with 182.50 or earlier drivers with the display driver service disabled.

Yep. That did work. The only very minor problem now is that I get no signal if I start the computer with the TV switched off. Not something that should happen very often and I can get round it by logging on remotely, starting the Nvidia service, switching the TV on then off again and finally switching off the Nvidia service. (Advice for the wife will simply be: press the restart button when the TV is switched on!)

I'm stuck with 180.48 drivers at the moment, because the Resize HDTV desktop is broken in subsequent driver functions (they change the screen resolution to something odd rather than just resizing the display. Stupid!)

Whenever I turn my TV off (Samsung plasma ATI HDMI) and then on again, MediaPortal shrinks itself into the top left corner of the screen. The only way to get MP back to full screen is to close it and then relaunch it - very annoying.

Windows Media Center seems to be able to detect a HDMI display reset event and resets itself to avoid this problem. Has anyone else noticed this?
