Problems with IR Remote (1 Viewer)

I am using Windows Vista as a media centre with Media Portal, I have a Microsoft RC6 IR remote. I wanted to remap the green start button that normally starts Windows Media centre to start Media portal instead. I found some information online that suggested making changes to the irremote.ini. (GRNPOWER={run(c:\Windows\launchMP.bat)}{mode(Media Portal)}). However when I went looking for the ini file it did not exist on my PC, The remote is listed in the hardware devices, I presume that as no software was installed that it is using Windows drivers. Is there another way of mapping the start button on the remote?
