    MediaPortal Version: 1.1.2 client/server setup
    MediaPortal Skin: B3W
    Windows Version: 7 HP
    CPU Type: AMD Athlon x2
    HDD: Intel SSD
    Memory: 4GB
    Motherboard: ASrock and Gigabyte 785G
    h.264 Video Codec: Microsoft
    Satelite/CableTV Provider: RiksTV

I seem to have come across a weird problem with the TV-part of Mediaportal. I've been struggeling with jerky/skipping playback for quite a while. (If I remeber correctly it began when I reinstalled my HTPCs for MP 1.1).

I'm experiencing skipping and jerky playback a couple of times every minute, first I thought it simply was a bad signal, but when I tried it on my Asus UL30A laptop it worked perfectly, and it also seems to work great on my H55/i3 computer, so the problem only seem to be there on my 785G based computers.

Normal video-playback works fine, I've also tried adding a dedicated Radeon HD 5570 videocard without any improvement. And considdering that my UL30A is using a crappy intel graphics card it can't be lack of power that's the problem either.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with this chipset and live-TV?

    edit:

I have now tried the Radeon HD 5570 in the H55/i3 computer and there does not seem to be any problems with this combination either. But I'll have to watch some more TV to be 100%, there are no HD-programs untill later today.

Which codecs have you tried? IS DXVA enabled? Maybe you are using the CPU and AMDs Cool&Quiet is slowing down the CPU speed? Just an idea...

I'm using the Microsoft codecs that comes with Windows 7. But I have also tried things like PowerDVD, Arcsoft, CoreAVC and FFDShow without any difference
    DXVA should be enabled
I've tried with C&Q both on and off, but my CPU load was rarely above 20% when watching TV so that should not be a problem. I've also tried with a variety of CPUs, anything from a Sempron 140 to a Phenom II.

At the moment I'm in the process of setting up a testbed to do some more research later tonight when noone else wants to watch TV. I'm thinking of doing something like this:

Long LANcable from my TV-server to a switch in test room, that switch is that connected to 3 computers

    - Gigabyte mITX H55+i3+HD5570 with 4 GB of memory
    - ASRock mATX 785G+Athlon X2 240e 4 GB of memory
    - Asus UL30A laptop Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset +Intel u7300 with 4GB of memory

All will be using the Microsoft codecs

Then I plan to have them all running the same TV-channel for a while and compare the number of dropped frames.

Well the test shows that dropped frames is not an issue, the 785G system only dropped 2 out of 500k frames, but the I still had the same problems, my laptop dropped nearly 500 frames, but the stream looked smooth to me.

But one thing I've noticed is that the red graph line drops to the bottom when I get the skipping, does that hint yo anything?
