I use a HDHomeRun tuner and have got most PVR software (BeyondTV, SageTV, GBPVR, etc.) to tune in all the channels I'm supposed to get here. However Media Portal (open source) fails to tune in the PBS channels in San Francisco at all. The signal strength is very high and I've even tried a powered signal booster in the antenna line.

Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix it? As a last resort, I'm manually trying to add the PBS (KQED, etc.) channels to Media Portal but am running into problems. Media Portal asks me for the following sorts of info and I have no idea where to get this from:

Physical Channel number: (I guess that would be DT-30 for KQED)
Major Channel
Minor Channel
Transport ID
Carrier frequency
SYmbolrate
InnerFEC
Modulation: (I guess this would be 8vsb)
Audio PID
Video PID
AC3 PID
etc etc.

Any help or ideas?

Thanks,
Lalith

For TV engine 0.2, I found that I need to tune one channel at a time when adding channels to mediaportal. This means in the remap file I disable all remaps except for the one I want to add when configuring mediaportal. In addition if there are two audio streams on the channel mediaportal will always map the second which is ussually another langauge or a 2.0 channel stream. Because mediaportal does not save ATSC information to the database from the config utility, you will need to change the audio pid in the database file.

I have been using a similar setup since february, but for the past two weeks using the latest firmware for the hdhomerun and most current SVN for mediaportal, zapping channels full screen will eventually crash mediaportal. It seems that mediaportal is remapping PIDs before stopping the current stream and retuning.

I'm having the same problem with PBS channels in Houston. I tried having ChannelsDirect add them but when I try to tune to the new channels nothing comes up
