Process Plugin Events (1 Viewer)

I want to create a plugin that logs every time a video file is played. I'm pretty sure I need to develop a "process plugin", but I haven't been able to find any sample code for this type. How would I respond to an event like a video being played? Can anyone point me in the direction of some documentation? Thanks!

Reading the currently playing video/movie

I am trying to make a process plugin that runs in the background, but it needs to know the currently playing video file. How can I get this? Is there an event like onMovieStarted or something? Can I use one of the Manager classes to read the information somehow? Sorry for asking here, but I wasn't able to find any documentation for this. Thanks!
