Synopsis::

I have tried to install a few times and each time I do and try to run MP it just shows the outline of the app. The controls are available at the top file menu control menu etc but the only one that will do anything is exit. I can not configure the DVD Music and again all I can see if a outline of the app as it appears to have frozen at this point. I can do nothing but close the application and have not been able to get it to run on my system.
Here is the error log.

Try using update 0.2.04, as does fix some issues, or try svn from 09-19-2006 as had that running for 4 day's recording tv and playing music simultaneously and found no noticeable side effects.

    Regards

I did try to 0.2.04 update and got the same result. I had the same result also on the two previous major releases.
    Ill try 09-19-2006
I seen something in a previous post about overlay vs VMR9 is that something that I could look into possibly as a solution?

No, MP uses VMR9 as default, Hate to say this, have you deleted the mediaportal folder (after uninstalling mediaportal). and only then installing and reconfiguring.

Sorry for the total lack of a answer, but a lot of variables need to be taken into account.

    Best Wishes

Noticed above, may be your problem.

Also can you also confirm that WMP11 is the default for all media filetypes on your pc, as again MP relies on WMP for a lot of its functions at moment.

    thanks

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and each time I get the same results
I have renamed the folder before rerunning setup each time
Media player 11 is the default for all supported media formats

Problem you have is unknown from any installation i have experienced (test a lot of software) of MP, and it works for me, out of the box.

So with your hardware configuration, no problem running MP.

Is XP upto date or a unusual setup in any way (Dell for one)

    Frustrating all round.

This was a system I build up from stratch with the hardware configuration listed above. This is very frustrated I have tried coming back just to see if it was something with my hardware config but I cant see anything that I can see. I am not using any obscure hardware or generic stuff.
This is a fresh copy of XP Pro retail that has been updated with all the updated available SP2 and any other updates. To make sure that I am not running into something weird that winup would fix I ran it again 3 days ago when I tried to install MP again.
This has happed with each build of MP I have tried. It has to be something odd with some hardware configuration or driver but I can see it. I did download a new Nvidia driver that was released last week but I havent installed it yet but I dont know if that will correct the problem but it is worth a dry. Is the error log I provided listing anything in my configuration that could contribute to this behavior?
