Recording "Five - Rough Guide To..." into "X:\PVR\Five - Rough Guide To...\Five - Rough Guide To... - - 2008-11-17 - 19_30.ts" fails, the only error logged in error.log is

TVServer creates the folder "X:\PVR\Five - Rough Guide To\". I'd guess TVServer or XP discards the trailing '...' when creating the folder but keeps them when creating the .ts file, causing the failure.
