Ongoing Project RetroPC (custom midrange HTPC) (1 Viewer)

First of all, I'd like to thank the community for maintaining such a great project as MediaPortal is.

Now here's my little contribution. I've been planning of building my own HTPC for a while and here it is almost done. Just a few more touches need to be done: redesigning front panel to match my AV gear, adding nice and shiny power button, installing IR remote control and setting up XP+MP (easiest part).


System specifications:
CPU - Athlon 64 X2 5600+
RAM - 2x1GB Corsair DDR2
MOBO - Abit AN-MD2HD
GFX - GeForce 7050 (built-in, w/ HDMI)
HDD - WD 320GB SATA

CASE - custom (handmade)

Just curious - have you thought about covering the DVD drive with matching wood trim veneer?

Yes, and I'm planning to do so. Another idea is to do a dark glass panel to match my SONY receiver.

Really nice! Makes me wonder how hard it would be to make a nice looking black Aluminum case myself....
(Maybe save 300 euro and not buy the Omaura TF8...)

Don't you need more 'case' fans?? looks like it could get very hot in there....

To those of you who are interested in temps, I have some numbers. 1080p .mkv video files play smoothly over the 100mbit ethernet, consuming no more than 20% of bandwidth. Temps on high load don't go above 60/40 C (respectively processor and system).
