I've been following MediaPortal for a little while now. I have been using some demos of sageTV. I've set Sage up probably a dozen times with little issue. I have an Hauppauge PVR 150 with the IR blaster and the 45 button remote (not the MCE version). I also have a dish network set top satellite tuner. Sage seems to operate it just fine. I have sucessfully setup SageTV numerous times with this setup. I was wondering how to get MediaPortal to blast that Dish receiver. I have setup MediaPortal and have no issue using the hauppage remote and I think I can get the guide setup. But I'm really unsure about blasting the Dish receiver. Any help anyone can lend or point me to would be great.

Thanks
Thomas G.

Anyone????

I'm starting to get the feeling that the blaster included with the non MCE version isn't going to work or is a real pain to get it to. I may have some time this weekend just to play with it. I can buy a MCE remote with receiver and two blasters for $40-$45. Whould this be the better way to go.

Ahhhh.. I did several searches and never came across this one. Thanks for the help. I've got the guide setup and working. I've not much time lately to really sit down and go through everything. The program looks great and loaded with features. I'm glad I didn't plunk down $80 for SageTV, even though the demos worked well for me.

Ok, I've gotten the guide setup and updated. I've got the blaster changing the channel but I can't seem to get video on the TV. I don't have problem with the trailers. I eitehr get a red or black screen and audio. The channel is changing properly because the audio matches the program. I am using the svideo input from my dish receiver. Any ideas?

did you try the different possibilities of input for the channel (SVHS, RGB, CVBS#1, CVBS#2)?

thanks+regards

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but start Set up Media Portal, go to where it lists the channels (I'm at work & can't remember exactly). Highlight a channel & pick edit. On the last tab, I think it's called external, you need to set it to 'Tuned by an STB'; S-video; & type in the channel number. This has to be done for each cahnnel individually. SQL Browser can be used to change all the 'Tuned by STB' at once, but since you still have to do the rest one-by-one, I just did it all manually. It takes forever, so I did a few channels at a time. You don't need the SVHS or CVBS channels.

I big Doh!!!! moment here this morning. I found my svideo connection disconnected from my dish receiver (I was about to call out of work this morning and stay home working with it he..he..). Must have been yanked loose when hooking up the keyboard and mouse last night to work on the setup. I've went through and setup about 20 channels as "tuned by STB" and SVHS for the svideo connection. These are working great but I agree it will take a while to go through them. So if I ever need to clear my channel list will I have to do this all agian? If I back it up and restore the list will these settings stick? Thanks for all the help guys.

Sorry for the late reply Thomas, but like you I'm learning as I go. I'm using the same set up (Hauppauge) with the Dish Player DVR 522 I did a lot of searching and found this:

1. Update all of your IR Blaster Software
2. Use Code "0088"

If your're using the same or similar Dish Player, your IR Blaster should now operate your receiver just fine. I did have to put the IR Blaster thingy right on top of the IR Receiver. Hope this helps.
