Since the 4th of july I have Nederland 1, 2 and three in HD. I'm not satisfied with the quality of these channels. Playback is choppy and not smooth. Discovery HD is much better!! When I want to change channel from Nederland 3 HD to RTL 4, my screen stays black but I hear the sound of RTL 4. I think it has something to do with the change of the codec? Does anyone have the same problems? Solutions??

Peter

Google for "HDPack" install this and use the Arcsoft H264 codec. This gave the best result on my system with low CPU usuage.

Well I noticed this too. Using the powerdvd v8 codec is not smooth at all. The signal is 1080i so i guess this codec does not do deinterlacing very well. Powerdvd V9 codec is better but has the same issues. The Arcsoft codec seems to be better but when i use this coded I can not switch to SD channels (MP locks up).
Using the software decoder from CoreAVC produced the best image and deinterlacing, but it requires a fast CPU to play smooth < 2.8ghz cpu.

I have really perfect pictures and really smooth.

I wonder if you have vista aero anabled?
The easy way -> computer - > right click -> settings -> There you have a number for your PC. This is 1.0 if you didn't run it yet.
If you run it and your computer can handle it (I believe >= 3.0) aero will be enabled automaticly.
See if that helps you out.

Doornjoostje,

Do you have Nederland 1, 2 en 3 HD smooth? All my other channels are perfect, inclusive Discovery HD.

I never heard of Vista Aero.... I looked up and I saw a rating of 1.0. There was a line 'new hardware found' and I updated the rating. Now it is 5,9. Is Aero now enabled? Thanks for your advice already!!

How is it possible when I change channel from Nederland HD to another channel my systems hangs. Example: I look Nederland 3 HD and change it to RTL 4, my screen stays black but I hear the audio from RTL 4.

I think I don't want to use software decoding. My videocard is (in my opinion!) powerfull enough for hardware decoding? (Asus nVidea 9600 GT Silent)

Hello Peter,

5.9 is great, 6.0 is the max.
Did your picture quality improve?

When you have issues with channel change, you should post your full logs, then people will look at it.

Grzt,
Joost

You need to have Aero enabled in vista to be able to have hardware decoding.

How do I enable Vista Aero (it's new for me....)? I can't judge the improvement of Nederland HD: my little son is watching a DVD....!! I'll get back on that later!
