I want to receive digital tv with mediaportal in the Netherlands (from Essent). I read on this forum that it is possible. But I want to know from other dutch users how the quality is because the hardware to make this work is not cheap and I want to watch and record in digital quality at the same time.

Especially with a footbal match or other fast sports when watching it at now with my Haupauge MCE500 card the screen shows havy motion-blur. How is this with mediaportal in combination with e.g FireDTV DVB-C and Alphacrypt Full 3.05 cam?

My provider is Multikabel (soon to be merged with Essent, I guess). Quality is splendid.

Motion blur is a phenomenon which can be controlled/minimised by choosing a decent codec. I use Dscaler5.

BTW: I also use FloppyDTV-C w/ Alphacrypt 3.05. By all means: DO choose a good IEEE 1394 interface card.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for replying. I have several questions though:

Question 1:
Is a Ieee1394 interface card bether than a PCI interface card? Because I also think about buying a Twinhan card.

Question2:
Do you have one or two FloppyDTV's in your computer?

greetings

Hans as you have a FloppyDTV. On the site of digital-everywhere are betadrivers you can get to test the floppyDTV in Windows mediacenter 2005 and Windows Vista. Could you give it a try to test it in mediacenter and post it as a reply on my post in 'de groene knop' on the next link ?

you would help a lot of people.

I do not own a copy of mediacenter....Most important thought, I don't intend to run MCE (ever); I just want to get my HTPC in production.

Regarding your questions:
1) I guess it doesn't matter whether your IEEE 1394 is on your motherboard or on a PCI card. AFAIK (I must admit, this is not my field of expertise) only the chipset matters. My recommendation is to use Texas Instruments or Agere (formerly known as Lucent).

Or should I have read: "is a PCI TV card better than a FireWire TV card". I really don't know.

2) I only use 1 (one) FloppyDTV. There's not much room for one more in my HTPC case.
