I have a question about a certain TV tuner card... Sabrent SBT-TVFM

I'm new to mediaportal and TV tuners in general, I need to know whether this card is supported by mediaportal, and whether its remote will work with mediaportal. (I do realise its sort of a hard question to answer if nobody owns the card and/or it hasn't been tested)

The reason I want to know is that I have a friend who would get lots of use out of a tv tuner card and PVR functions - she's currently got about 500 vhs tapes lying around her house - and its cheap enough that she wouldn't have any problem recieving it as a gift (she's kinda touchy about getting anything expensive). But from the reviews (which are quite varied) it seems the hardware is solid (apart from the remote) yet the software included is garbage. The obvious solution - mediaportal!

Also anyone who owns or has ever owned this card or any other Sabrent card please do give any info you think would be helpful whether good or bad - I've never used any Sabrent hardware before and I'd like to know what I'm getting into.

The last thing is that the computer this will be going into is a crappy dell, I don't know anything about it beyond the fact that its a P4 with 512MB of RAM and it does have a free PCI slot. I can find out more if needed.

Anywho, thanks for your time, and sorry for the long post ^.^

Way to revive a 2 year old post

It's good for completion's sake, though. And in that spirit I have the following to add: This card was pretty much utter garbage. It's picture (relative to any model of Hauppauge WinTV Card - 150, 250, 350 - take your pick; i've used them all now.) is sub-standard and the reception of channels leaves a lot to be desired. Interference was pretty bad once a few more TV's got added into the cable system in the house. In hindsight, I should have just dished out the extra for a lowend hauppauge.
