I have a clean install of RC1 on Win7 singleseat. For some reason I cannot work out, TV Thumbs are not being created, yet there is no problem with Video Thumbs.

Is anyone else having this problem? I'm sure that earlier version worked OK.

The mediaPortal logfile is full of

2010-03-04 18:50:45.484000 [Debug][PoolThread6(6)]: VideoThumbCreator: Settings loaded - using 1 columns and 1 rows. Share thumb = False
2010-03-04 18:50:45.683000 [Debug][PoolThread6(6)]: VideoThumbCreator: mtn.exe did not extract a thumbnail to: C:\Users\John\Desktop\OldMPrecordings\BBC HD\Seven Ages of Britain (2100 - 2200 2010-03-01)\Seven Ages of Britain_s.jpg
2010-03-04 18:50:45.746000 [Info.][PoolThread6(6)]: RecordedTV: No thumbnail created for - Seven Ages of Britain.ts

Full log attached.

I would much appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction to work out why Thumbs are being created for my videos but not for any recorded TV.

Myself and elliottmc both get this for DVB-T, intermitant thumbs being produced, so your getting this with dvb-s as well.

What you could try is make backup of your C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MovieThumbnailer folder, download mtn.exe from here movie thumbnailer (mtn) and overwrite the files in the folder, now are you seeing thumbs.

Sorry for the long delay, been away for the weekend.

Unfortunately this didn't solve my problem. I got more thumbs, but still nowhere near all.

It's not a real problem so I'll wait until later versions and then pursue it again

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I also tried the other version of mtn.exe and got way better results, but some 'problem ts files' refuse to create thumbs.

before i would get maybe 4 out of 10 recordings to create thumbs.
with the original mtn from the link above, it is more like 9 out of 10.

this is from all recording sources, analog, atsc, and hdpvr (analog hd crossbar)

the problem seems to lie in the way tswriter creates the files?

mtn has been more stable in terms of not crashing but far more unstable in terms of actually producing thumbs since they mtn code was re-compiled for MP
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mediaportal-1-1-0-beta-1-454/invalid-thumbs-h264-material-77344/
and a few others I have raised / seen :(

I have 100% failure rate with MP mtn on H264 recordings and I think since RC1 it is nearly 100% failure rate with SD too...

I am thinking that when I wake PC to load xml EPG I might run a batch to go through all recordings without a thumb and try and create one with the original mtn and bypass the MP blacklisting. Problem is I don't quite know where the thumbs needs to go and when I asked last time

    I got no response :(

just to chime in and confirm, it is not limited to dvb.

Yes, please check my quote from earlier. =)
These are only from files created by MP's tswriter.

Anyone got a few mpeg2 videos to test? (plain, unprocessed DVD rip i.e.) - would be interesting.
