Questions about Media Portal and will it eliminate WMC problems (1 Viewer)

Hi , I am looking at switching from WMC to MP due to some issues I have been plauged with for a while.

The dreaded phantom tuner issue that WMC seems to suffer from when using 2 usb tuners.

I have 2 dual Kiaser bass usb tuners and WMC regulary looses them and a re install is required to get them to work again - does Media Portal suffer from the same issues ?

The other bug I have with WMC is when recording a tv show following another recording on the same channel - the second recording does not use a different tuner source so the first few minutes of the show are at the end of another recording - does Media portal solve this issue ?

Also is there a good skin for Medial Portal that is mouse based ?

New to MP but i've being WMC for a while. The only way to avoid this is by:
Select the 1st show
Go to "Actions"
Record Settings
Set "Stop" to "10 minutes after"

Back-2-back recording - yes, not a problem. If same channel, you will start of show 2 at end of show 1 in the show 1 recording (amount depends on overlap set in start/stop padding) and end of show1 at start of show 2 recording but BOTH recordings will be complete and separate.

As to mouse based, not something I can comment on - I use Default Wide & Frames with mouse/keyboard on my test box and both work fine but pure mouse, feasible but not ideal choices would be my feeling.

Also is there a good skin for Medial Portal that is mouse based ?

The PureVision series by Catavolt does it well. PureVisionHD 1080 is for 1.3.0 alpha only, others are for 1.2.3. I believe Catavolt developed the default skins as well and they also support a mouse. These are the only skins I know of to support a mouse well.

There is a config option (in the primary GUI page) that you should choose. It says something like "enable mouse controls." This adds scroll bars and some other mouse stuff. Also, the "topbar" plugin should be enabled, if it isn't already.

An optical mouse works exceptionally well if you have a surface that is not fuzzy. The arm of a leather chair works great. The only time I've found where a mouse is not ideal is text entry, but a remote would be even worse.

Comparing to MCE, MP is missing one mouse feature: clicking on the timeline to move to another point in a video.
