Hi, I'm currently looking into creating my own htpc system. Some of the things I wan't from it is:
  • Stream from a central storage to several htpcs
  • Upload recorded content to the central storage
  • Rip or copy my DVD:s to the central storage so I can get hide all my dvds and have them conveniently in the htpc

Is this the software for me to use then and is it easier and more user friendly than mythTV :p

MP can currently only stream your TV channels.
Still, I think you should go with it.
Put your TV-cards in the central storage PC and install the TV Server on it.
Install MP clients on other PC's to connect to the TV Server.
Create network shares for the other content(dvd's, photos, mp3s) on the server.
Each client must then be configured to use the network shares.

there's not "out of the box" functionality for that, but there are ways to somewhat automate the copy process.
I don't use that function so can't comment on that, but a search should come up with some answers.
