I am just starting to copy my dvd's onto my harddrive. I have a few iso's, and a few VIDEO_TS folders. Not sure what retains better quality, if any difference at all. My question is that when a movie starts, the red ATTENTION screen and movie raitiong screen fit to the edges of my monitor. THen when the trailers/movie starts to play, it's in a smaller box in the center of the screen. I went into the config application, and unchecked all but normal for zooms available, but it didn't help. Is there something i'm missing? Im going to be playing them on my 52in lcd with a hdmi cable and i want to retain all dvd quality, and size.

Thanks in advance

    Not sure if I get what you are saying, but a DVD resolution is ofc SD (not HD) so unless some kind of upscaling is done, and 1:1 is sent to TV it will not cover the screen.

    Reason: SD = 0.5MP, "HD-ready": 1MP, "Full-HD": 2MP ---> Playing a SD (w/o some kind of upscaling) will only cover about 25% of the screen.

    Conclusion: You need to upscale.
    EDIT: MP is here magapixel - not MediaPortal ;)

    If your problem is not being able to fill the screen what-so-ever, then: Are you using FFDShow with postprocessing?

    Btw: Logs and system info is always nice - and often needed :)

    If you go back to config and check the other zoom options, then you'll be able to adjust picture size to fit your screen.

    Once you have configured MP to allow various zoom modes, press "s" while the video is playing and it will cycle through your various zoom modes until you find the one that fits your screen properly.

    Remark: Only the "zoom modes" that are checked in config will be cycled.

    Thanks for the help. Using "s" i got it as close to filling my widescreen monitor as possable. Previously it had the 1in black border around it. I understand that if you take a crappy video and blow it up to fit a drive in movie theatre screen it would be unviewable, so they have the big borders to keep it viewable, but these are exavt dvd rips, and i would think a actual dvd would have the pixles to fill my 17in monitor? Right?

    Well, my 19" has a res. of 1280x1024 (4:3/non widescreen). This equals (1280x1024) about 1 300 000 pixels --> 1.3 MP.
    As I said before, DVD's are SD, meaning no more than about 500 000 pixels --> 0.5 MP
