Anyone with MULTIPLE dvb-t cards in UK able to record BBC2 from either scheduled or manual (from control panel) - can you confirm that recordings from this channel play back?

It might just be me, again. :D

Cheers funkstar, I've tried since with a lot of card combinations and I ALWAYS get a zero bytes file, can watch the channel while it's timeshifting and recording but always get a file of 0 bytes.

I can record every other channel, no problems.

I reported an error a while back in which a second manual recording always failed, however I never realised that in my tests that channel was bbc2

BUT, I cannot dismiss something crackers in my config.

I did have this problem (10 days ago or so). I thought it was probably me so I deleted the TVLibaray database and re-scanned the cards. Since then I've had no problems recording BBC2.

I've been messing around with this for a while now, there is an intermittent problem recording BBC2, not timeshifting, that works fine -

Its a problem with .mpg and there are lots of:

21-02-2007 11:25:28 CPesPacket::Fullbuffer 1315 1315

21-02-2007 11:25:28 CPesPacket::Fullbuffer 1383 1383
21-02-2007 11:25:28 CPesPacket::Fullbuffer 1417 1417
21-02-2007 11:25:29 CPesPacket::Fullbuffer 1451 1451

entries in tsWriter.log

I'm still investigating though...

I've also tried this with only one tuner and I have cleared out the db and removed and re-installed various versions of tvserver, plugin and mp

I get something similar - it seems to randomly affect BBC1 and BBC2 with missed recordings - looking in manual control it shows the card as being idle, but it is allocated to the scheduler and is timeshifting. I have to stop and start the service again to clear it.

I get exactly the same problem with BBC1 and BBC2, and all the other channels on that same multiplex. No problems with other channels.

I have also noticed far more picture breakup when using the TVServer compared with the standard mediaportal recording

I have the same problem, 0 length recordings on BBC1 & BBC2 - I can't be sure it doesn't happen on other channels also, but seems ok on some others e.g. CH4.

Any news on a resolution / workaround?

Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :eek: :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...

In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre). The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA). The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...

Perhaps... Only way to confirm would be for me to invest in a different USB DVB-S2 tuner (like the Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-S2), which I might do if the issue persists.
