Hi guys this is more a hardware problem as the problem persists whether MP and TVe0.3 are running or not but was wanting some advice...
My HTPC randomly reboots, and it seems to be doing it more and more frequently. There is no shut-down, its like someone has just hit the reset button on the case. I have stress tested and swapped out the ram, and replace the PSU still does it. As my HTPC is my only source of TV/music/video/radio in my house its kinda frustrating!
Any ideas? I am going to do a virus scan, although I suspect this isnt the problem...
I am running 2x250gig raid 0 (i think - Ive got 500g total storage, striped) on a DFI RS482 mATX MB, AMD 64 dual core 3800 CPU, 1gig ram, M-Audio revolution 5.1 sound card and a skystar2 satellite FTA reciever, all wrapped up in an antec NSK2400 case. It runs real cool, 25-40deg C and the bios max temp is set to 70 so I know its not overheating.
After I have done the virus check I will disconnect the reset switch from the MB, then try running without the satellite and sound card. If that fails, I will do a complete re-install with a deep format. If that fails all I can think of is to replace the MB and or CPU but this wee problem is already getting expensive, the new PSU cost 200 NZD and didnt even fix the problem...
Has anyone got any ideas that I havent thought of?

I had something simular on one of my HTPC's, ended up being a faulty CPU.
Checked the voltages, all OK. Swapped the RAM with one of my other PC's, did not make a difference. Then I decided to get a new CPU, that did the trick.

Hi guys thanks for the input! I have dome a bit more research and apparently the RS482 is a bit prone to random reboots from what I can tell... However Ive spent the best part of today doing a complete clean install with all the latest drivers, bios, latest sp2 updates and software and so far all is stable, I even got to watch black sheep uninterrupted, which by the way is so bad its funny if you have that kind of humour.... If it starts up again I might have to look at replacing the MB, or maybe upping the ram voltage by a wee bit first... Dont know. Still a mystery but I will check ram voltages if it starts again... not an o/cer at all I chose that MB cos it was available, and had all the features I wanted... S-video,spdif out, mATX FF and such. Ill keep you posted as to how Im going. I did a 2 hour ram stress test with prime95 yesterday and didnt get it to do it thoguh do maybe not the ram? Who knows <shrug>
