This bug is not really serious, just a minor inconvenience. Prior to RC4, I haven't been able to get auto compress to work and I have converted the videos to MPEG2 by hand. After I updated to RC4, MP started to automatically convert all the recordings to MPEG2, even though auto compress is not enabled. This bug is slightly irritating as every recording takes up twice the space, because the original recording is not removed. The converted recordings are named name of the showprocessfile.mpg.

Did you do a CLEAN install as delete the old Mediaportal folder.
If you did not then some old files have carried over and screwed up your settings.
So Uninstall MP, delete MP folder and then install 0.2RC4.

Removed MP, deleted the folder. Re-installed Mediaportal. Now the strange feature is gone, but a different one appeared. I have set MP to name series and movies with following format:

    %startday%.%startmonth% %start% %title%

But MP keeps using the default naming format. I really don't care what channel the program was recorded from. I use XBMC to watch the shows and the default format caused problems when trying to sort the shows by name.

    [EDIT]
Just checked the setting and closed MP setup. After starting MP again, MP started to save the recorded shows to the default folder and not the folder I had set. I also have set the Movies, Music and Pictures folders three times. MP seems to have major problems reading user settings.

    [EDIT2]
Finished recording the test show and MP still converted the show to MPG and also kept the original DVR-MS file.

Finally had time to check the system last weekend. The reason for the mpg files was DVRMSFileWatcher that was monitoring the folder Mediaportal and converting shows to MPG. Forgot all about installing the program.
