I had mentioned in another thread that my startup times were very long on my machine. It was a 1GB machine at the time.

I have since upgraded to 2GB (2 * 1GB 800Mhz), and now it is FAST. So, to anyone that is running a 1GB Vista HTPC, "dont" :)

It goes MUCH MUCH faster with 2GB+.

    Problem solved.

    Thanks!

It goes much faster with dual channel memory, so 2 sticks of ram required in slots 1-2 or 3-4, did you only have 1gb (slow) stick installed, rather than 2x512mb (faster), but yes agree Vista really does need 2x1gb to run at it's optimum.

Yes, it was 2 sticks at the 1GB level, and is still 2 sticks.

I have seen the disk activity go to near 0 now that I am at the 2GB level - I guess having SQL server, TV Server and MP all running cant fit well in 1GB.

Suggest that the system requriements, when running Vista are updated?

    Thanks for your help,

    Joe

Yep, that's what M$ recommend and I do agree with them, did borrow a couple of memory sticks (same as mine, just 2x512mb) to go upto 3gb, but found no advantage whatsoever.

So I think there is a limit, just do not know how guys get a advantage on 64bit systems with much larger memory support.
