Hey guys, hope someone can help me. Having some issues re-installing Mp 1.0.1.

Background:

I have a single seat TV Server / Client install.

Last night, i decided to watch some youtube clips during the Ad breaks on live TV. I watched the clips, only to return to MP to discover it playing up, freezing etc. So i decided to reboot.
Upon reboot, MP would crash on startup. The logs indicated that mediaportal.exe.config was missing some entries. On opening the file, it was blank.

My Actions:

I decided that i should be able to re-install the 'client' component of Mediaportal, as the DB stores all the TV server / video / music info right? I expected a certain amount of re-config was needed, but the really tiresome parts would be Ok.
So i went to control panel and selected to uninstall the "Mediaportal" app, while leaveing the TV Server / Client installed.
The uninstall dialogue stated that "the mediaportal client will be uninstalled, while leaving the users files" which i thought confirmed my guess.

I then rebooted, and re-ran the 1.0.1 installer.

I chose the "Advanced Install" option, and Selected the "MP LAN Client" option, thinking that i could point it back to the same machine and it would be the same.
The install went fine, but on opeing the Mp Config app i noticed that
a) The TV config was a "standalone" install which wanted me to config tuner cards etc.
b) All the movie / music config was gone, so it was like it hadn't used the exisiting database?

So I uninstalled it again, and re-ran the installer.

This time, i chose "one click" install. The installer recognised that everything was installed except for the MP core, and the install completed in about 1 min.

Once again, there was no TV client, and all info was like a blank install.

So.
a) How do i install just hte MP Client and get it to install the TV Client and point it back to the existing install
b) How do i rescue the movie / music info in the existing DB? I spent too many hours getting it right

Thanks!!

Just in case anyone else ever does a search, the fix is to

a) uninstall both MP and the TV server with the default uninstall options (only uninstall MP)
b) Re-install both MP and the TV Server
c) Run the TV Server config and point it back to the local DB
d) Copy the \team mediaportal\mediaportal backup xxxx\database\*.db files to \team mediaportal\mediaportal\database\
e) Copy the \team mediaportal\mediaportal backup xxx\thumbs to the \team mediaportal\mediaportal\thumbs
f) Re-run the MediaPortal setup

This keeps all the TV / Tuner / Music / Video database information, but everthing else is like a new install.

Yeah, problem was that it blew up about 5 mins before i had a bunch of people coming round to watch a show. I thought i could get a re-install on the box and have basic TV up and running in that time :)

In retrospect, i should have installed on a different PC, but didn't have one handy at that moment.
