Hi,

I'm using the current version of Moving Pictures. Are there any other advantages to using this plug-in other than the ability to movie group series together & the ability to support additional languages? I only ask because I don't wish to install this plug-in unless there are other advantages over the inbuilt scraper. Take note 99% of my movies are in English.

I did notice awhile back that my scraper occasionally included IMBD at the start of the movie name. I noticed it was discussed here & your scraper had corrected the problem due to an IMDB change.

Another question I have is that I use the Adult Scraper on the odd occasion. Will I still be able to utilise this scraper in conjunction with the scraper from this thread?

Cheers

IMDb+ plugin allows you to configure a lot of options for the IMDb+ scraper-script. You can select which rating system to use (IMDb, MetaCritics and all of the RottenTomatoes ones and an average between those which is the default setting), long or short summaries, show original title, add foreign title via brackets, tag special editions and the most coveted feature indeed to rename the titles on a lot of movies to group them together or make their titles unique.

If something is changed at the imdb.com website and somebody lets me know (before I find out myself), and I fix the IMDb+ scraper-script, then the IMDb+ plugin also ensures that you will automatically get the updated version installed. This usually means that before 'you' add a new movie to your collection the problem has already been fixed. Whereas with the default one you first realize there is a problem, then hunt down forum/google-code for updated default imdb.com scraper-script, manually install it and then manually refresh the movies inside MovingPictures config.

With IMDb+ this is all done as much automated as possible and you can control it all from the couch inside MediaPortal.

There are also a bunch of other features planned, but will take time before those are functional.

As for adult scraper to run side-by-side, that is still possible. The IMDb+ scraper is just like any other script so that should not make any difference. The problem however is that most adult movie titles will cause many results at imdb.com as well, so unless you modify a few MovingPictures settings it is possible that the adult scraper never gets used. To combat this I've modified the CDUniverse adult scraper to allow for a special filename prefix. You need v2.0.5 for that to work and prefix your filenames with '$$$$$XXX-'. This confuses the imdb.com search engine system where it will fail to find any match, so that the CDUniverse scraper can be in 2nd priority position and find the adult title without any problems.

If you have any other questions or problems, let me know.

Cheers, thanks for the response. I can't wait to give it a whirl. I like how you can modify the movie rating source.

Yes, the RottenTomatoes rating system was originally the basis for this scraper, when it was still called "IMDb+RottenTomatoes". But when the imdb.com website then went haywire with the movie titles, it became much more which is why it is now just called "IMDb+". Give the average system a try, in my own experience it gives the best results which is why it is the default rating system. Of course you are free to configure it anyway you like. Just keep in mind that when you for example use the IMDb or MetaCritics rating system that things will go faster (it doesn't have to scrape the RT website), but you do loose potential benefits from the RottenTomatoes system. It doesn't happen often but sometimes the IMDb site doesn't have summary or runtime info, which is when the scraper will try to obtain them from the RT site (if one exists there of course). When you restrict the rating to IMDb, MetaCritics or the average between those two then you disable those RT benefits.

PS: UK certification ratings are already possible, but I am working on adding options to select for CA (Canadian), AU (Australian) and NZ (New Zealand) ratings as well. Just have no idea on when it will be done, but I'm hoping before the new year. Since it will require update to the plugin as well to show the extra options I am going to try to get a few other enhancements done as well.
