My wife and I were just talking recently about how we are so antiquated in the music we find ourselves listening to, so I registered at Last.FM and set up the plugin. I subsequently modified the Blue3 skin to include the suggestion playlist. We seem to play it constantly now, exploring a wider range of musical directions.

As much as I love the Last.FM plugin ( :D:D:D for making it available), the more I listen to streaming MP3s from the Last.FM site the more I miss the presence, dynamics and fullness of CD quality music.

Is there an add-on or plugin for MediaPortal that will come close to restoring the full sound of the original recording? I need something that will only apply itself to streaming MP3s, as from Last.FM, and not to the .FLAC files I have recorded in MyMusic, which don't need any processing. I'm using MP 1.0.1.0 and the internal Bass player and outputting (upmixed to 5.1) via optical SP/DIF to my surround receiver.

Thanks for any help (and any assistance in setting it up if something does exist)

Sorry, usually everything that boosts up music (similar to video postprocessing) will fail at various occurences. While last.fm is an excellent tool to explore new artists it might not be able to replace the physical medium.

As you're using a surround receiver: many models provide an option to "enhance" the sound of MP3s (e.g. Onkyo's "Music Optimizer" which is working rather subtile).

    Thanks RTV,

There used to be a pretty useful DFX utility that I had once..... at least brought back 'some' of the lost detail, but I can't find it anywhere... I don't think it would work with MP anyway.

My surround system is an older model... made long before MP3s. ;)
