Hi,

In the Recordings section of TV Server it defaults to record to .ts files, can you change this to DVRMS?

    Hi Dave,

I don't think it's possible to record to DVRMS, DVRMS is just a container designed by Microsoft to protect recorded content (like I-tunes does). I think you can set TV server to .ts or .mpeg

    nope, TS only.

In the olden days, the olt TV recording engine used the same libraries as MCE so recordings were in DVR-MS, which is a pain as you had to mess about with them to get things to read them.

Then when the TV engine was introduced, there was the option of .ts or .mpg. However, there were problems with the conversion from transport stream MPEG video to program stream MPEG video in some setups, so .mpg was dropped and everything is nor recorded and played back using .ts files.

These do need some processing to turn them into regular .mpg files, but there are some very fast and easy to use tools out there. Google is your friend :) You can also crop pre and post record time as well as adverts if you want to at the same time.

In the menu on the left there may be an option Detach from home server, if there is click it and acknowledge the dialog that pops up...

In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre). The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA). The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...
