I have a TV Server in the basement and three remote clients. Two of the remote clients work fabulously, one will not properly play Recorded TV and Live TV. Videos play fine, but Recorded TV viewed from My Videos do not play. The machine in question is a 2.8Ghz 1.5GB RAM and a wired Intel Pro/100 wired ethernet connection. Ironically, my 1.6Ghz Acer Aspire One will play Recorded TV fine even through its 802.11g wireless, so I figure it must be the configuration on this one machine. The other client is a laptop also and is only 1.6Ghz with 1GB RAM and it plays Recorded TV fine also. I've attached the log files and any help is greatly appreciated. I love this product (tested and turned down Microsoft XP Media Center 2005 and GB-PVR).

What do you mean exactly by: does not play? Does it give an error, does nothing happen?

Please be as precise as you can be.

No errors on-screen. I will get the first frame of the video frozen on the screen while the audio plays properly in the background. The fast forward/skip/pause buttons also work properly, and will intermittently update the frame that is frozen on the screen but not always. Audio works consistently throughout. I sat and watched the same stream on the wireless netbook so I know it isn't a streaming server problem (I switched to port 5554 because the zune streaming software for xbox had 554 already). I ran MP in windowed mode for testing purposes with task manager running in the background to watch for processor/network bottlenecks and saw that on initial startup of the stream I ran approximately 55% cpu and 50-60% network utilization, but within a 10-15 seconds the cpu and lan utilization drop down to ~15% and ~10% respectively. The netbook shows the same utilization of cpu but higher lan utilization primarily because it is a 54Mbps connection instead of 100Mbps. I verified that the NIC is running at 100Mbps and windows reports that it is. I believe I have a configuration problem somewhere but wasn't able to locate it. I went through the netbook's config side-by-side with this desktop but I figure I just missed it. If there are any other logfiles or any other information needed to help troubleshoot please let me know. I can't write code to save my life but if you need help in any layer 2/3 switching/routing in a cisco or 3com environment then look me up!

Thanks for the response!--captain.kawasaki

Forgot to mention, I installed SP3 before MP installation (was on SP2 previously). After I saw the tv problem, I verified .net 3.5 sp1 and the other package (name escapes me at the moment). The frozen frame continued, so I uninstalled and reinstalled MP. Thanks!--ck
