I'm a new to MediaPortal and I have a problem with the TV aspect-ratio when watching/recording TV. I have searched for hours for a way to solve this.
I have connected my DVB-S receiver (Dreambox 500s) to the video-in on my Hauppauge PVR250 using an svhs cable. I have set the receiver to output svhs in 16:9. As far as I know this means that it sends 16:9 stretched to 4:3 (anamorphic), correct?
The problem is that in MediaPortal the TV image is always stretched to 4:3 and none of the aspect-ratio settings makes it right. Unless I run MediaPortal in fullscreen on a 16:9 display with the "stretch" setting, then ofcourse everything is fine. But that is not my normal setup.
Isn't there supposed to be a flag or somethine sent along the video-feed to tell that it's anamorphic? If so is MediaPortal capable of dealing with that? Otherwise, is there a way to add a 16:9 option in the aspect-ratio list?
It is also possible that the receiver isn't sending the anamorphic-flag (if there is such a thing), I wouldn't be suprised. If that's the case then I need a way to tell MediaPortal that the signal is 16:9 anamorphic.
I have a computer with only the TV-Server part of MediaPortal and several others using Vista and Win7 with the TV-Client. The problem appears on all the clients. If I record and then watch the recording in MediaPortal or any other media player, the image is stretched to 4:3.
