I just started using MediaPortal 1.1.3
I tried searching the wiki and forums, but could not find any more information about how the file naming works for recordings. When I had the recommended %episode% in my pattern, it appeared to be the equivalent of S%seriesNum%E%episodeNum% (although I wasn't even able to confirm that all database columns are supported as tokens), but since the Series Direct plugin replaces the episodeNum column with the SxxEyy value, I presume I just want to use %episodeNum% -- I'm waiting for a test recording to start, but it woud be nice to just have a more complete description of how the naming logic works, rather than continuing my experiments.
I was intrigued by the reference to "blockquotes", but there is no example of how to use them -- do they go around a token (or more) or replace the use of the percent character? What exactly defines an "optional" field. From what I've seen, it looks like any tokens in the string that have null/blank entries in the database are ignored.
Ideally, the pattern I'd like to use would be something like
%title% -(%episodeNum% %name%)-%date%
where the %epidodeNum% and following space would only be present if the db field contained a value matching S\d\dE\d\d
Is that possible. I figure that I'm probably going to end up running a sql script periodically to remove episodeNum values that do not match the desired pattern.
Okay, now I'm really getting frustrated, as I've changed the "custom" filename pattern several times, restarted TV-Server (and even rebooted the box a couple of times) and I'm still seeing the same recording pattern as was first entered, which included putting recordings in subdirectories, so it's an obvious difference. Help?
Sorry, just figured out the biggest part of my problem -- I hadn't noticed that there are separate patterns for "movies" vs. "series". Once I change the series one, I expect to see better results. I would still like to understand more about the way the patterns work, though.
