Recording TV - "Record only new episodes", "Recording priority"? (1 Viewer)

Thanks for the product - I like it a lot, even though it's been just few days since I installed it.

Record only new episodes

Maybe I am wrong here, but I believe MP's options for TV recording are somethings like: "On any channel, on this channel, etc.". I was wondering if you guys are planning to implement (or whether it is already implemented and I am just completely out of line here) functionality to record only new episodes of a specific show? For example, I'd like to record "Battlestar Galactica", but I don't want to record old episodes airing on Space channel (in Canada). Currently, when I select this show, I get two suggestions - one for the 2003 series and another one for the old series (Space channel airs this on Friday and the new version on Saturday). I would like to say "want to record only new episodes, not re-runs".. Is it doable based on the data provided by EPGs?

Recording priority

Now you can specify priority for recording - as I understand that should allow conflict resolutions in case of time collisions. I don't have much experience with this, but this is what I noticed. I added 'MXC" to be recorded from any channel anytime. Then I put in few more items to record, opened up priority window and set MXC show to the lowest. Well, other shows have been processed and the only item in the schedule was MXC again. Soon after I decided to add few more shows to record and in the priority window MXC was on top - everything else was added with lower priority, as I understood. So I had to re-set priorities again.. Now, the suggestion - would it be possible to make some kind of 'sticky' priority - once something was assigned 'lowest' priority, everything else comes above it at any time? Or am I wrong again and this is exactly how 0.2.1.0 operates already?

Unless you have very good details in you EPG guide, that is the only way (as far as I know) that we can set it to record new episodes. Usually the providers to do not us enough info for this to work well.

I could be totally wrong on this, but I think the priorities have to do with what card it uses.

I have a replay TV and this is how it handles this issue. When you set up a show to record you have the option to have it guaranteed or not. If it's guaranteed, it also looks at how many episodes you want to record and then says each show at this quality records at 2GB per hour and you have 5 shows set up. I will always need 10GB on the hard drive to record this show. Then guards this space and if you have enough guaranteed shows.. will say you don't have enough room to record new guaranteed shows.

The Replaytv only has 1 tuner, so when you select a show that conflicts with another, it comes up and says "you already have a show set up at this time" and then tells you what it is. it then gives you the option to say "select this show to record away" Cancel and record the old show"

It would be nice to be able to set up priorities on each show... It could be something simple like High and low. With a high setting, it always wants to record and low will record when it can but if a high show is recording at the same time, it will record the high show. If you set up 2 shows that are high, it will let you know and asks which show do you want to record.
