This has always been the case, but when exporting from the tv setup program and then installing a new build of the tv server, the dbo.recordings doesn't get re-populated, so you effectively lose access to any recordings you haven't watched. Everything else appears to get repopulated in the database including schedules etc.

    yeah, this behaviour is bad.
If you live in a house with non pc type people, then having to explain to them that the procedure for watching recorded TV between a certain date range is to use MyVideos and a pre set share can cause some blank stares...

Also, if you use the button to clear the TV Guide then this also kills the recordings database.

What would be handy would be a simple scan of a folder for basic movie file details that could be addded to the database; name, date and size but this wouldn't help for the lost metadata (program information).

Well I don't see why doing an export can't just include the info from dbo.recordings especially as exporting and importing retains all the scheduled programs.

As much as I can understand that it's annoying, this is more a feature request than a bug.
Anyway, I'll try to get this sorted and report back.

I'm afraid the devs see this as a missing feature rather than a bug aswell so it won't be added in the near future.

A temporary workaround is to export the table containing the recordings and import them back afterwards again.

    Kind Regards,
