I have just made a clean windows install with the latest tvserver and svn.
On my old install I saved my recordings on a second hdd.
But now I cant see my old recordings inside MP (I use the same recordings folder as before) but they are still there on the second hdd.

How do I update the recordings database so I get to see the old recording again inside MP?

Stefan

you really needed to back up the recording database on the server before you reinstalled.
You can manually add them now, if you want, but it will mean using the SQL management console to add each one at a time.
Someone mentioned making an app to import any found recordings, but not sure if that happened.

In the mean time, you can add your recording folder to the list of video folders and watch the recordings in the video section.

But I agree, would be nicer to get them back in the database.

If you really want to add them manually, see the instructions in this thread.

Seems to be a little advanced for me. But now I have switched to mysql instead of mssql and I cant find anything about that.
How can you create af backup of the database with mysql?? Dont know anything about it.
    And maybe add old recordings??

Crazy there has been no reply on this issue. It also relates to the problem of getting recordings from external apps into MP. Using myVideos is a useless workaround and means having to view by shares etc and if there are multiple locations u have to open each until u find the file you are after.

When will we see a way of creating our own media sections, or at the very least be able to update the TVRecordings db from folders?

Is this one of the too hard issues, no one wants to own? This same problem has been requested since MP first came out, so if it will never be looked at please let us know.

There is a new feature in TV Server that will help in importing old recordings....

    This is no longer true.
Start TVServer configuration and select "Recording Settings" -> "Database Import" there you have the ability to import all recordings MP finds in the recording folder which are not in the database.

this is where the new feature originated from. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ure-import-your-former-tve3-recordings-36396/

It is not dependant on all those requirements anymore as it has been incorporated into the TVServer.

I found my recordings performed on ABC TV Sydney could not be seen as the channel names had changed. manually going into the database, I looked ot the TVLibrary DB and then the dbo.recording Table. If you right click and select open table, do you see all your recordings listed in that table.

If so, the coulmn idCHannel, there should be NO -1 . if there is then it could not find your channel number. The channel numbers can be located from the table dbo.channel and the field idChannel.

No I don't see my recordings in that tables, only the ones that were listed on the import screen (just the 2). on the page in TVserver config where you import all the found recordings the box is empty as if there are no more to import, how does it tell?

also, how did it get a description for the 2 files it did import, I would have thought I would have lost that?
