My guess is that it emulates the signals a normal MCE remote would send to the box.
You would still need the IR receiver on the PC itself.

If I was a betting man, I'd say it looks like the client on the PC would scan the "my documents" folder for video, photos, and music. This information would then be sent back to the device itself.

Problem is that you also need to be running Vista :(

the nokia n800 (which can run this app too) doesn't have any ir transmitter built in. so i think its working over wlan. there's also an app which has to be installed on ther mce machine...

The website looks good, and they are asking for beta testers. If you had the devices (PDA / n800), you could try it out. I would be interested to see how it works.

i've got a n800 but (un)fortunatly i'm still sticking to winxp...the beta seem only to work with vista media center. maybe they're using the sideshow technology...
what i really find great about this whole thing is the bidirectional remote approach
