Hi all,
I am getting on well with my htpc build and hav got the hang of using mediaportal..

I am hoping to control my panasonic plasm display with my htpc. (it will only be the pc connected to it so I only need to put it in/out of standby).
There is a com port for control on the screen, I have the wiring codes and the rs-232 codes.
I don't actually have a com port on the m/b so I will get a pci/com card.
My actuall question is- how simple is it to set up my pc to send a code from the com port when it comes on and another code when it enters stand-by?

Could this be done through mediaportal (can't find anything) or do I need to add a program to do this through windows?
The code looks fairly simple, to turn into standby: STX POF ETX to turn on: STX PON ETX

I have had a good old google for somthing to do this but all I have found are programs that control the tv from the pc manually - you can click the mouse on various commands but it wont let you tie-in with your pc automatically.
Cheers!!
